Kid's got some serious wheels and smarts. He's gonna be quite the player.

Big win tonight, Howard was damn good but got bailed out by some posts for sure, at least most of the pingers deflected off him.

Solid win, seems like its typical Wings play to your opponent's level hockey again this season. Whether that be up or down.

JK (I know posts and cbs aren't shots). Kucherov was our only good player on the ice again, and we probably deserved to lose by more than a goal.

I think you're giving too much attention to the Larkin and Stamkos roughings. And his goal was off of a nice move to the net, but it was a bad goal that Bishop shouldn't give up. Turning Heads? I mean, everyone knows he's good with a shot at being great, but McDavid with a bum shoulder is still better.

Regardless, we'll see you in February. Hopefully by then we'll be back to playing the way we should.

Good win.

I knew he wouldn't be sent down at game 9 like many on here thought.
Only one year on his rookie contract sacrificed since with his level of skill, and Richard's one year contract, he would be with the Wings next year. He will get a bridge contract or 2? Before he is 27. Skill/maturity is at a level where he wasn't going to be sitting in GR for long.

Sometimes is better to be lucky than good any Jimmy was both. Like it was said on the home TV feed last night, some of those saves Howard made by being in position and just hitting him go in last year (after he came back from injury). He didn't play well or got the breaks.

So 1 to address previous comment, i dont think anyone was making a direct comparison to mcdavid as if i were mcdavid/eichel/larkin

but to the same extent its very nice we drafted someone this good as late as we did and sort of "under the radar" (not that he wasnt noticed or projected pretty high, but he could easily go down as should have been drafted top 10 or even top 5 that year)

and 2nd, i dont think its his goals or points so far that "turn heads" but more so that hes 19 years old and honestly playing likes hes been on our first line for years, he immediately stepped into the league and has done very well,

granted he hasnt even finished half of one season, but the kid looks amazing, and relieves some of the notion that once datsyuk or Z quit, we would be doomed

This.
There are a lot of great points here, most importantly about the prospect of having a bonafide top line center to replace Datsyuk in a couple years.
I think the red wing faithful's excitement here runs parallel to the McEichel hype, not against it. Unlike the oil, we haven't had a teenager earn a full time spot in over a decade, and the fact that he immediately makes this team better is cause for some serious excitement. I couldn't care less if he wins the calder, but I care immensely that he is currently making our team much much better.
